Crowds of visitors filter their way through Siem Reap in northern Cambodia every year, most looking to admire the mighty temple complex at Angkor Wat, the mysterious and ancient eighth wonder of the world that still stands as one of the most striking examples of old Khmer architecture in all of Southeast Asia.
The growing and sustained popularity of the site in recent decades has led to fast development in the town of Siem Reap itself, and visitors now enjoy one of the most hospitable centres for tourism in all of Cambodia, complete with plenty of accommodation options, various bars, restaurants and a number of interesting museums (for the most part related to the ancient site at Angkor).
